A Chicago public school strike would ripple through the localeconomy to the tune of $32 million a day, the Chicagoland Chamber ofCommerce predicted.
The estimate includes lost teacher salaries and benefits, lostincome to suppliers, and lost business that would have been done ifteachers and suppliers had their usual income to plow back into theeconomy, said John Skorburg, chamber chief economist.
